WINE DESCRIPTION
Family vintners for over 100 years, the Catenas are recognized for their pioneering role in high-altitude viticulture and in leading Argentina’s Malbec revolution. In the 1950´s, Don Domingo Catena began sourcing Malbec from the historic vineyards of Vista Flores. Domingo prized the region’s Malbec for its dark colored and structured tannins.
VINIFICATION
This wine goes through an extensive cold maceration of 2-6 days at less than 50ºF (10ºC) to extract aromas. The juice is then fermented for approximately 8-16 days with a total maceration of around 0-12 days. Elevage: 11-13 months in 100% French Oak barrel. 35% new barrels.
VINEYARDS
Vista Flores Vineyard (1100m/3608ft). Alluvial origin. Loamy soil, with rounded rocks on the bottom (80% Sand – 10% Clay – 10% Silt).
