Tasting Notes

Black fruits (Morello cherry), garrigue, roasted and black olive aromas. Very full structure, richness and power balanced by the freshness of the Ventoux terroir. Notes of garrigue and black cherry with silky tannins. Beautiful concentration, good acidity, great generosity.

Ventoux Quintessence 2022 is a classic Syrah with aromas of ripe, juicy red fruit, peppery herbs, violets and chalky minerality. This is a medium- to full-bodied red wine with fine tannins and a supple, complex and elegant palate.

The nose is intense and deeply layered, where scorched earth and iodine weave through overripe brambly fruit and truffle. The palate is harmonious, unfolding fresh blackberry, violet, garrigue, sage, and a dusting of cocoa powder. A granitic minerality defines the finish, softened by gentle acidity. "A blend of 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache, fermented in concrete and then aged in equal parts concrete, demi-muids and barrels, Ventoux Quintessence 2022 seems to be one of the best examples I've tasted of this cuvée. On the nose, impressive aromas of blueberries are accompanied by raspberries and a touch of black olive, while the palate is full-bodied, richly concentrated and supple, with hints of licorice and mint on the long, velvety finish."
