2022 Willamette Valley PINOT NOIR
WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR VINTAGE
2022 was a challenging growing season in the Willamette Valley. Budbreak began in mid to late April, just in time for a late and record-breaking frost event which grew concerns for crop loss. The vines, however proved resilient and secondary buds broke and set a healthy yet smaller crop. A warm and dry summer followed with slow ripening until
some late season heat in October accelerated ripening and led to a short and compressed harvest. Despite the early season challenges the resulting wines from 2022 show great concentration and structure with balance
acids and integrated tannins.
VINIFICATION COMMENT
Sourced from eight vineyards and five sub-appellations of the Willamette valley. Estate vineyards to feature in the blend are Jory Hills Vineyard nestled in the Dundee Hills AVA, Gran Moraine Vineyard, and WillaKenzie Estate all in the Yamhill Carlton AVA – sprawling vineyards planted on marine sedimentary soils.
WINEMAKER COMMENTS
NOSE: Violets, raspberry, oolong tea and savory earth characters.
PALATE: Bright and polished, with notes of red cherry, blueberry, and orange zest. Elegant with supple tannins.
