The 2022 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru comes from two parcels on the north-facing part of the climat, 60- and 70-year-old vines. It has a poised and focused bouquet with hints of white peach and praline infusing the minerally scents. Very composed and understated at first before gaining more intensity. The palate is well-balanced with tangy marmalade and quince, lovely depth and cohesion, equidistant between classicism and the generous, almost tropical nature of the 2022 vintage. Highly recommended. (NM)

Grown on the cooler flank so picked later on 7th September. Pale to mid lemon in colour. What a high-class bouquet, cool fresh white fruit, all in perfect place, so the picking date was evidently well chosen. Serene on the palate, the flesh is well distributed and the aftertaste engaging. Drink from 2028-2038.

This comes from the southern cooler side of Vaudésir, meaning that it is usually harvested rather late. Still, this is all vim and vigor. Green pears, yellow raspberries and light leafiness transfer from the nose to the citrus-packed palate. The bracing acidity pulls along the finish and will give this a good framework for aging to benefit.

Note: from a 1 ha parcel of 30 to 65-year-old vines on the north facing side A vague whiff of the exotic lurks in the background of the aroma of dried orange peel, lemon confit, mineral reduction and an interesting hint of star anise. There is both excellent volume and intensity yet a similar degree of refinement to the equally stony and impressively long finish where an even more prominent bitter lemon character is present. Lovely though patience is strongly advised. *Burghound Sweet Spot!*

A grand cru with concentration and ageing potential. A great combination of ripeness and richness, cut with salinity and citrus acidity. From the north-facing side of the Vaudésir valley, Michel has two parcels planted on rich clay soils. Vaudésir can be a heat trap, but for those facing north it is less of an issue. (AH)
