The Barale Fratelli 2020 Barolo del Comune di Barolo is a pretty wine with balanced intensity, dark fruit flavors, blue and purple fruits, light spice and camphor ash. There is something herbal with a hint of grilled rosemary and tar. These wines from Barale Fratelli tend to show bigger, more monotone styles, but they are elegant nonetheless. This wine is the most mildly textured of them all. It ferments in steel and ages in French oak casks for 30 months. Production is 3,700 bottles. (ML)

The 2020 Barolo del Comune di Barolo is a terrific entry-level offering from Barale. Sweet, open aromatics meld into a core of dark red-toned fruit. Cedar, sweet spice, tobacco, mint and kirsch are nicely pushed forward. Best of all, the 2020 should drink well with minimal cellaring. (AG)

At first sip, this wine hits you with an intense bouquet of pine, herbs, and licorice, backed by concentrated black fruits. It's like a bold, extracted flavor bomb that's been forced into high gear. Super spicy and forward, it's not for the faint of heart.
