This, the third release of Rutherford Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, is an exemplary expression of our western Rutherford benchland terroir. It’s big and inky with a dark, alluringly saturated, amethyst-purple color. Perfumed aromas of red bramble berry, wild violet, and rose petal sit alongside fruit-forward flavors of black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, and plum. The pleasing texture provides youthful tannins with a firm grip, a signature of the Rutherford dust, finishing dry with hints of espresso, tar, and graphite. A nice, long line of acidity supports the dark fruit core, providing suppleness and richness. Woodsier, perfumed notes of vanilla, caramel, and toast show nuances of the well-integrated oak. Marvelous balance, generosity, and power lead to a lengthy and persistent finish. A truly stunning wine that demonstrates the world-renowned quality of Cabernet Sauvignon from our heralded Rutherford AVA vineyards.

“The Rutherford Reserve leads with black fruits, toffee and oak spices. Full-bodied with ripe sweet blackberry and black cherry notes, building tannins that are a bit granular. The wine has plenty of grip and is built on 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Petit Verdot, aged 21 months in 80% new French oak.
