A custom cuvée for European Cellars and a joint project between Eric Solomon and Jean-Marc Lafage, Bastide Miraflors is a cuvée created from Grenache grown on rocky, alluvial clay soils resembling those of the Rhône Valley combined with Syrah grown on schist in the village of Maury. After a long maceration of six weeks the wine ages for 12 months in concrete (Grenache) and 600L French oak demi-muids (Syrah).
Critical Acclaim
94 points Jeb Dunnuck
The 2016 Lafage Bastide Miraflors Vieilles Vignes is one of the top red wine values in the world! 94 points from Jeb Dunnuck, less than $15/bottle, and Mr. Dunnuck has compared this one to Sine Qua Non. Not familiar with Sine Qua Non? There’s a good reason for that, as there’s an 8 year waiting list to get on their mailing list, and their wines would run you $150+. No waiting on this one though, and as good as the 2015 was, Jeb called the 2016 “the finest vintage for this cuvée to date (it’s in the same league as the off-the-charts 2015).”
