TASTING NOTES:
The 2022 "R" Zinfandel from the Nostro Vino Vineyard has a ruby purple color of moderate depth with carmine hues. The aroma is classic Amador Zinfandel; loaded with briary dusty raspberries, both red and black. It has the “Goldilocks” of aromas, not too red (cherry and strawberry) and not too ripe (raisins, prunes and molasses) but midway between the two; having left the realm of red while not quite venturing into the black. More boysenberries than blackberry. Eighteen months of aging in small barrels has provided this wine with a bouquet of smoky toasted oak along with sweet vanilla and almond paste. On the palate, savory flavors of briary marionberry and plum dance with those of toasty oak. This wine has a full supple texture without any signs of astringency. The restrained tannins make for a finish that is long and harmonious.
