~ Hand-picked and hand-sorted; gently destemmed with no crushing with
15% whole clusters retained
~ Primary fermentation in small 4-ton open top tanks with manual punch downs 1-4 times daily
~ Gently basket-pressed before overnight settling and barreling down into traditional 60-gallon
French Oak Burgundy barrels (25% new)
~ All cooperage was long air dried (3-4 years) and only low-medium toasted
to best highlight fruit and terroir
~ Malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel where the wine aged 16 months
~ Bottled unfined and unfiltered on February 10, 2023
S E N S O RY
~ Visually bright with a ruby center that fades to an almost neon pink rim. Cherry, cranberry, and
raspberry notes jump out of the glass along with cocoa powder, and green forest floor.
~ A light bodied pinot with high toned fruit which is wrapped in the perfect amount of grip-
py tannins from both the fruit and barrel. Toasty vanilla from French oak holds together the
crunchy red fruit flavors providing both tension and delight.

2021 Sun Chase Pinot Noir

Planted on the west-facing hillside where the cool Petaluma Gap
collides with Sonoma Mountain, Sun Chase Vineyard overlooks a broad
sweep of the Sonoma County from the San Pablo Bay to north Santa
Rosa. Our Pinot Noir block is just above the fog line in rocky soil. The
growing season tends to be long and the weather not always so
pleasant for humans but wonderful for grapes.
