Three historic Mendocino County vineyards: two valley-floor sites and one high-elevation site
Bartolomei Ranch, Talmage – dry-farmed, planted 1940s
McCutchen Ranch, Pine Mountain – planted 1960s
Valdiguié from Lolonis Ranch, Redwood Valley – planted 1940s
All vineyards are head-trained, dry-farmed, and planted to heritage varieties
Soil types range from red clay (valley) to rocky, scrabbly terrain (mountain)
All fruit hand-harvested in early October
Fermentation in a mix of open-top tanks (both whole cluster and destemmed) and closed tanks (true carbonic maceration)
50% whole cluster
Pressed off skins early and “went to barrel sweet” to preserve freshness
Aged 10 months in a mix of neutral oak barrels and stainless steel
Bottled unfined and unfiltered
12.5% abv
