At the time of my visit, the three grand crus in the Michel cellars were also still quite primary and nowhere near as expressive as the vast majority of the premier crus here. The 2023 Vaudésir offers up a bright and nascently complex bouquet of apple, pear, lime blossoms, chalky minerality, citrus peel and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and really has stunning depth of fruit at the core, with explosive backend energy and grip, fine balance and a long, minerally and very promising, but still quite primary finish. All this needs is time. (Drink between 2031-2070) (01/2025)

This comes from the "l'envers" or southern side of Vaudésir, with the two parcels averaging 65 years in age. It is open and generous with fresh cream, yellow plums, warm hay and roasted almonds competing to outdo the others. Sea breezes and roaring acidity lighten up the back palate of this tantalizing, reverberating Vaudésir. (01/2025)

Note: from a 1 ha parcel of 30 to 65-year-old vines on the north facing side. Restrained if elegant aromas are comprised by notes of quinine, white peach, citrus confit and a whiff of the exotic, in particular passion fruit. The markedly rich and generously proportioned medium weight flavors also coat the palate before culminating in a lingering finish that isn't as refined as it usually is, though that may change with additional élevage. The 2023 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru comes from a north-facing part of the vineyard, an advantage in this season as it tends to ripen quickly. It has a reticent nose compared to the 2022 when tasted last year, a little earthier in style, more yellow fruit here, quite tightly wound. The palate is well balanced with a light entry, fresh and crisp with a touch of bitter lemon and white pepper on the finish. It just needs to loosen up a little.(NM, 08/2024)
