JD 95 (7/2025): The 2019 is named for the Pinus Pinea tree growing in the middle of the producer’s Cardisanto Vineyard, and it’s a smooth, powerful, velvety wine of tremendous quality. Herbal cedar, toasted oak, and garrigue play along a full-bodied palate of rich black cherry, coconut flake, and dried herb, with mineral-driven intensity coming from the limestone soils. Firm, structured tannins ensure a long life of decades ahead, with an elegant backbone of chalky nerve. Only about 8,000 bottles were made.
