Peach stone, frangipani and honeydew aromatics lead to a dry wet stone flavour profile showing phenolic floral drive and great balance. Vegan friendly.
About the Wine
Two Paddocks Riesling is an estate grown, single block selection made from fruit grown at Two Paddocks’ Red Bank Vineyard situated in the Earnscleugh district of Alexandra, Central Otago. As in the vineyard, this wine was hand crafted using traditional methods and bottled early to ensure all the integrity and vitality of the wine was preserved. The soils in this block are well draining schist loam and the vines tend to thrive. Additionally the hot day time temperatures that Alexandra experiences over summer encourages riper stone fruit flavours, until late afternoon when the ‘Roxburgh Doctor’ wind arrives and causes a dramatic drop in temperature and hence the significantly cooler nights that the region is known for.
Vintage Comments
Spring and early summer started off well as temperatures steadily increased and regular rainfall meant soil moisture was high enabling the vines to easily access nutrients, so the vines had strong healthy early growth. February was cooler than typical though with several cold southerly fronts bringing rain, which slowed veraison and seemed to stall what was at that point heading for an early harvest. Then March was far warmer and actually surpassed February for heat accumulation - and an early harvest was back on! Harvest 2022 began on the 24/3/22 and finished on the 26/4/22.
Crafted from a tiny half-hectare block of clone 110 at Two Paddocks Red Bank Vineyard at Earnscleugh, Central Otago, which consistently produces the ripest and most intense riesling on the estate. All grapes are grown using organic principles, hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel.
Whole bunch pressed and then a light racking before fermentation. An indigenous fermentation which took 5 months at between 12-18 degrees Celsius. The wine was then held on light lees until it was racked and filtered for clarity and stabilisation prior to bottling.

"Aromas of lime and green melon show clearly. Full-bodied and minerally with a slate undertone to the palate. Turns dry and complex at the end with gunpowder and slate-lined fruit. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap."
