Established by Swiss couple, Brigitte and Bruno Widmer in 1981, Brancaia is composed of two properties in the Chianti Classico zone – one in Castellina, the other in Radda. Blending the two, the annata is the estate’s only red that doesn’t see any wood. Nevertheless, there is a waft of vanilla and nutmeg to start, along with a flinty reductive note. The palate brings in strawberry and fleshy red cherry; clean and well-mannered with a cheerful juiciness and discreet tannins. - Michaela Morris, Feb 2024
